Orientation programme for the 1 st year students.

The Institute of Hotel Management (IHM), Ramnagar organized an orientation program for the newly admitted first-year students of the Diploma & Bachelor’s Degree in Hotel Management at Aahana Resort, Ramnagar in July 2025. The event aimed to familiarize students with the hospitality industry, the institute’s values, and the professional expectations of their chosen career.

World Class Bakery Practical

Bakery and confectionery practical form a core component of Hotel Management education, emphasizing hands-on training in baking techniques, ingredient handling, and product decoration. These sessions equip students with skills essential for the hospitality industry’s pastry and bakery operations.

SIHM, Ramnagar provides specialized Programs like Diploma in Bakery and Confectionary (18 months) and it is also the part of 3-years Degree course in B.Sc. in HHA (Hospitality & Hotel Administration). There are two separate Bakery & Confectionary Labs for Diploma & Degree Students.

Food Production Practical

Food production practical at SIHM, Ramnagar provides hands-on training essential for aspiring chefs. These sessions emphasize skill-building in professional kitchens, covering techniques from basic preparation to advanced cooking methods. Students gain competence in hygiene, equipment use, and menu execution, preparing them for real-world hospitality roles.

Regular practicals are conducted in three kitchens located on Ground, 1st & 2nd floors namely Basic, Advanced and Quantity kitchens as per Semester of students.

F&B Service Practicals

Food and Beverage Service practical at SIHM, Ramnagar gives students hands-on skills for working in Restaurants, Banquets, Room service, and Bars. Main components of practical are:-Restaurant setup and mise-en-place, Service techniques, Beverage service, Guest handling, Coordination and teamwork.

Flower Arrangement Practical in House Keeping

Flower arrangement is an essential component of aesthetic presentation in the hospitality industry. It plays a crucial role in enhancing the ambiance of hotels, restaurants, banquet halls, and event venues. A well-designed floral display reflects the property’s personality, attention to detail, and commitment to guest satisfaction.

Students at IHM Ramnagar learn the art of flower arrangement in institute and also in Industry for better understanding of latest techniques.

Industrial Visit of First year students of Hotel Management

The first-year students of the Hotel Management program undertook an educational industrial visit in July 2025 to Aahana – The Corbett Wilderness, a reputed five-star eco-resort located near Jim Corbett National Park. The objective of the visit was to provide students with practical exposure to the functioning of a luxury hospitality establishment and to bridge the gap between theoretical learning and industry practices.

During the visit, the students were given a detailed orientation on various operational departments including Front Office, Housekeeping, Food Production, and Food & Beverage Service. The departmental heads and trainers at Aahana explained the standard procedures, guest service protocols, and sustainability practices that contribute to the resort’s five-star reputation. Students also gained insight into eco-friendly initiatives such as waste management, organic farming, and energy conservation techniques employed by the property.

Guest Lecture by Mr. Anuj, Human Resource Manager and Ms. Janki Dangwal, Business Development Manager of Aahana Resort, Ramnagar

The Institute of Hotel Management (IHM), Ramnagar, organized a guest lecture by Mr. Anuj, Human Resource Manager and Ms. Janki Dangwal, Business Development Manager at Aahana Resort, a renowned five-star eco-friendly resort in Ramnagar. The session aimed to bridge the gap between classroom learning and industry practices, providing students with valuable insights into the HR functions within the hospitality sector.

Mr. Anuj and Ms. Janki shared his professional experiences and discussed key aspects of human resource management in hotels, including recruitment, training, employee engagement, and retention strategies. He emphasized the importance of soft skills, teamwork, and a positive attitude for career growth in the hospitality industry.

Entrepreneurship Awareness for HM Students

A guest lecture on Entrepreneurship was conducted by a resource person at IHM Ramnagar, Nainital engaging students in practical insights into starting ventures in hospitality. The session highlighted key entrepreneurial skills tailored for hotel management professionals. It inspired participants to explore business opportunities in the industry.

Continental food workshop

Continental food workshop was conducted on 10/09/2025 by Chef Chandra Shekhar (CDP) of Aahana Resort-5*, Ramnagar. Workshop provided hands-on training in Western cuisines, enhancing students’ culinary skills for professional kitchens. The sessions focused on techniques from French, Italian, and other Western traditions, preparing participants for roles in fine-dining Hotels and International hospitality.

World Tourism Day 2025

The Institute of Hotel Management, Ramnagar, Nainital, celebrated “World Tourism Day” on 7th September 2025 with great enthusiasm and participation from students and faculty members. The event highlighted this year’s global theme, focusing on sustainable and inclusive tourism development.

The institute had the honour of hosting distinguished guests — Mr. Kamal Nayan Tripathi, Chairman of Aahana Resort; Mr. Shubham Thapa, HR Manager at Taj Resort, Ramnagar; and Mr. Ravi, HR Manager at Hotel Marriott, Ramnagar. The guests addressed the gathering, sharing their valuable insights on the evolving trends and opportunities in the hospitality and tourism sector. Their presence greatly motivated the students. The celebration included a variety of engaging activities such as cultural performances, a poster-making competition, and PowerPoint presentations on tourism themes prepared by students. These activities aimed to promote creativity and awareness about responsible tourism practices.

The event concluded with an interactive session between students and industry experts, followed by a vote of thanks, marking the day as both educational and inspiring for everyone present.

Visit of Taj Corbett

Senior Managers of Taj Corbett and Spa Ramnagar visited SIHM Ramnagar on September 5, 2024, and interacted with students. Ms. Poonam Chand, the Additional Director of Uttarakhand Tourism, was also present during the event and motivated the students to choose the Hospitality industry as their best career option.

World Tourism Day 2024

On September 27, 2024, “World Tourism Day 2024” was observed with tremendous fervor and excitement. The event was graced by Mr. Kamal Nayan Tripathi, owner of 5* Aahana Resorts in Ramnagar; Mr. Anirudh Lakhotia, owner of 5* Hotel Golden Tusk; and Mr. Sandeep Pal, GM of Hotel Golden Tusk. Students participated in a variety of cultural programs, and a tourism poster contest was held. Additionally, students presented a PowerPoint Presentation on the theme of “Tourism & Peace” on Tourism Day.

World Chef Day 2024

SIHM Ramnagar enthusiastically commemorated “World Chef Day” 2024 on October 20, 2024. Students watched as senior chefs Dharma Singh (Pastry) and Arjun Singh (Tandoor) of the five-star Resort Aahana Ramnagar displayed a variety of dishes and cooking techniques. For the students, it was an excellent learning opportunity.

Guest Lecture by Mr. Sandeep Pal

On January 17, 2025, Mr. Sandeep Pal, GM of the five-star Hotel Golden Tusk in Ramnagar, gave a Guest Lecture to the students. He informed the students about a range of career options and other facets of the Hospitality Industry.

Master Classes on Beverages, 28th January 2025

On January 28, 2025, SIHM Ramnagar hosted a Master Class on Beverages. The students were instructed in a variety of cocktail and mocktail-making techniques by Master Mixologist Mr. Apoorv Chamoli and Mr. Mukesh Singh. During the Masterclass, students created a variety of beverages.

Kumaoni Food Festival

The Kumaon region of Uttarakhand is renowned for its rich cultural heritage, characterized by its scenic views and vibrant traditions. The culture of Kumaon is a unique blend of indigenous practices and influences from various immigrant communities that have settled in the region over time.This festival focus on promoting dishes of Kumaoni region and bring awareness among masses about this Cuisine.
